Literary - critical response of selected works by Jostein Gaarder

The bachelor theses deals with two works written by Norwegian writer and philosopher Jostein Gaarder, the novel The Orange Girl (2004) and the novel The Castle in the Pyrenees (2011), and their selected critical responses. The aim of this thesis is to interpret both works and place them in the context of their critical responses. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the personality of the author, his life and the features characteristic of his work, and in a separate chapter further defines the terms literary criticism, review and interpretation. The practical part is divided into two chapters, each of which is devoted to one of the selected literary works - it offers its interpretation and analysis of Critical responses, which include Czech, German and English review published in the daily press, online media and culturally oriented periodicals or websites. The analysis of individual literary Critical texts is followed by separate subchapters that summarize the findings regarding the common features or differences of the analyzed reviews.
Critical Responses of Selected Works By Petr Stančík in the Czech Media

This Master's thesis focuses on the analysis of the critical responses in Czech media to selected works of Petr Stančík. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the terms literary criticism, postmodernity and postmodernism. The literary criticism chapter features a subsection about the current situation of literary reviews in the Czech Republic with a focus on reviews of children's books. The theoretical part also includes a characterization of the cultural and literary print and online media. The media included in the analysis are cultural and literary print and online periodicals A2, Host, iLiteratura.cz, Tvar and Týdeník Rozhlas, and newspapers and web Aktuálně.cz, Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta DNES, Právo, Reflex and Respekt. The thesis also includes a profile of the author himself and his literary and theatre works. The practical part of the Master's thesis maps the critical responses to three books by Petr Stančík - Mrkev ho vcucla pod zem (2013), Mlýn na mumie (2013) and Andělí vejce (2016), in the chosen Czech media. Milan Kundera's The Joke supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today.

Thesis "Milan Kundera's 'The Joke' supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today" deals with critical reflection of the novel 'The Joke' in the period from the end of the 1960's up to current reviews. The author dedicates first chapters to the cultural and political background of the release. The core of the thesis focuses mostly on critical reception of the novel, which is divided into three historical periods. In the first part of the critical historical analysis and qualitative analysis, the author examines critical acceptance of the novel in the aftermath of its release (1967-1969), in the Czechoslovakian and exiled journals and literary magazines in particular. The second part considers critical reaction to the novel throughout 1970's and 80's, and stresses outcomes of the reception in the sixties, official normalized critical reviews and the acceptance in the exile and samizdat literature as well. Finally, the last part of the thesis offers contemporary critical response to 'The Joke', analyzed on the basis of Czech journals, literary magazines and newly emergent Kundera's monographs and on the basis of French critical reception of the Milan Kundera's collected work in the prestigious La Pléiade Gallimard edition. Poetical work of J.H.Krchovský and it's critical response (1991-2011)

Bachelor thesis titled Poetical work of J. H. Krchovský and it's critical response (1991- 2011) aims to analyze the critical responses of the poet's collections published in selected periodicals in the period from 1991 to 2011. The approach of author's life and his literary style should lead to an understanding of the circumstances of his poetry, and thus to add a context to the published responses. The first part of the work serves to get to know the personality of J. H. Krchovský and to put his poetry into context of the underground period from which the poet came from. The author deals in detail with the poet's life, which makes it easier to understand the motifs that appear in his work. She interprets the poetic style and theme of his verses. At the end of the first part there are also individual collections that have been published since 1991 until the present. In the second part the author publishes a record from her own interview with J. H. Krchovský because she wants to achieve a greater understanding of the poet's extraordinary personality and his work. Confrontation of critical receptions of Neruda's and Hálek's poetry

This diploma thesis deals with the critical reception of Neruda's and Hálek's poetry. The first chapter summarizes the existing knowledge of these authors' creations. At first we focused on the typical traits of their generation, and then on the genesis of their writing. Then using specialized literature, we briefly try to interpret their poetry. At the end of this chapter we show how the critical attitudes towards both poets changed over time. The second chapter also serves as a reference frame for the study of contemporary critical reception Neruda's and Hálek's poetry, because it describes the development of Czech literary criticism in the 19th century, especially in its second half, and its leading personalities who influenced the reception of poetic works of these poets. The next part of the thesis analyzes period reviews of Hálek's poetry in detail. Firstly we briefly describe the main features of Hálek's poetry in general, then we expound the characteristics of his collections of poems. Subsequently for each collection of poems, we provide a description of the critiques published. Bachelor thesis titled Period Media Response to The Collection of Poems The Unfinished (1960) aims to map the criticism, review and feedback about the posthumous collection in contemporary periodicals. Explanation of the historical and political context, which is the theme of the first part of the thesis, a summary of the artist's lifelong work, whose motives have changed with regard to socio-political, but also Nezval's personal situation should lead to an understanding of published critical texts, and especially to their planting into contemporary context. The author of the thesis leads it as a historical analysis. The first part defines the timeframe of the investigation period, ie. the socio-political situation after the year 1948, the transformation of the cultural environment to which it relates the status of Czech literary artists. In the second part, the author focuses on the life of Vítězslav Nezval, on his motives and published works. Although the post-war and later ideologically oriented poetry is the most important for this thesis. Media responses of Cowards by Josef Skvorecky in the 50th and 60th the th century

The bachelor thesis deals with the analytical evaluation of the critical reaction to Skvorecky's novel The Cowards in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. These two decades have been specific by its political and social atmosphere. Characteristics of the 50s and 60s are different and therefore different specificities of the two decades are reflected in the critical reactions. In the first part the author focuses on the creation of a theoretical framework, which is then used as the basis for the analysis of reviews. In the first three chapters of the work she focuses on a biography of Josef Skvorecky (and how it was affected by edition of his debut novel), as well as the status of the novel in the context of Czech post-war literature. The important element in the analysis of reviews of The Cowards is primarily the context of the historical period and with it the changing societal values. Texts created on this basis have at one time denounced The Cowards and other time praised it as a modern and quality work. At the end, the author summarizes the facts affecting the formation and character of reviews. In light of the lessons learned then closes media analysis with a commentary.

This bachelor thesis deals with the critical reception of Neruda's and Hálek's poetry. The first chapter summarizes the existing knowledge of these authors's creations.
